Ultra Training

My training for my ultra began at the beginning of the month and boy has it been a trip so far. The weather has been blizzard like, freezing cold (temperatures below zero!!) and not to mention mostly extremely icy. This is much different from the warm winter we had last year. I am loving all of the snow, but it has made my training runs a lot slower. I am trying to find the motivation to get out there and go during these times. My mile times have gotten much slower about 1-2 minutes per mile as I stare down on the road or sidewalk looking at the ice. I convinced a friend to run it with me, so I do have a little bit of motivation. We have been putting in about 3 runs a week together. This is her first big race that she will do. In fact, she has only ran one 5k and one 10k and those were just in November and December. I am excited to see her accomplishing the miles that we are putting in. That in itself is a huge motivation. I can’t wait to continue to log the miles and hope that with February creeping up, the weather gets better with it.
