Little Feet

Isaiah 6:8

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

God asked us to go. I want to be continually saying, “Here am I! Send me.” That is what I always want my answer to be to God in my life. To continually answer his call here in Bozeman, back in the Philippines, or wherever He may send me.

Jesus gave us the command to go out and make disciples of all nations in Matthew 28:16-20. This includes my time back here in the states as well as over in the Philippines. We are suppose to be lights for Him always, no matter where we are or what we are doing. This is what we are called to do. This is everyone’s purpose in life. God has given us all different physical and spiritual gifts to complete this one purpose of sharing Him with others. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus’ disciples tried to turn the children away from Him.”But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.’” Children are just as important to reach as adults. In some ways children are more important because they are the next generation that will be leading our countries. They are the future. If we reach children, they will reach several generations to come.

Going to Rehoboth meant many things to me, but one of the most important was spending time with the children to show them God’s love. James 1:27 “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” We are called to go out to help these children who are God’s creation. No matter what they have experienced in their lives, they need our love. These little feet can’t help themselves. They don’t have the resources necessary to go out in this world and survive on their own. They need people like you and me to come along side them to give them a home.

God has given us all the opportunity to love on these children. Whether it is here in the states praying for them, packing a shoebox full of God’s love, sponsoring a child at Rehoboth (or through a different organization), giving them a summer of hope, or giving a child a forever family by adopting them. We have so many chances at helping these children live better lives and we can do this because of the love that God has given all of us. We have no excuses other than time, and money. Which we have an abundance of, compared to most people in this world. God gave us the luxuries we have in this world to share with others. We need to be praying to see how God wants us to use these to benefit Him. It maybe to help our churches by giving more than ten percent, helping children, or donating to other organizations.

There are so many areas we can help people in this world. Why aren’t we? So that we can live better lives by having more material things in this world? Does that really make us happy in this life? I know that sometimes this is the category I fall under. I have been rethinking the areas that I spend my money and time. I am hoping and praying that God is trying to change me. I think He is! I love that I was able to take a little over a week  and step out of my normal life. It has given me a new light into my life. Brent and I are currently sponsoring one child and a friend that is doing a music ministry. We are going to also start supporting at least one more child at Rehoboth and one day, Lord willing, look into adoption. Adoption has been on both of our hearts before we even were married. Going to Rehoboth has put it on our hearts even more. We are earnestly praying about this and know that if it is meant to happen, God will show us in His time.

I hope this helps you rethink some of the areas you spend your money and make you want to look into donating your time and money with an organization to better our world and for God. It doesn’t have to be through The Sacred Portion Children’s Outreach or Rehoboth Children’s Home, but some organization is needing you to come along side them and help.  This is why we are here. This is why we are living in the United States and have all the blessings in this world. God has given them to us for a purpose. Are you using them for His glory or for yourself? Am I? I pray that we evaluate these things in our lives.
