From the Sidelines

Back in June, Brent, Krista (my twin) and my good friend Katie all decided to take on the challenge of running the Jim Bridger Trail Run. This is a 10 mile trail race up in the nearby Bridgers. The race has over 2,000 feet of vertical climbs. The main reason why I decided not to attempt it at 22 weeks or so pregnant. Running is hard enough for me right now, it would have taken me hours to complete this race even if I was hiking. It was all for the best that I decided to let the three of them run it without me even thought I was slightly jealous.
The race morning came and it was a hot one. They all loaded up and went to the start. I stayed back to get a nice slow 5 miler in on solid flat ground. It was already pushing the mid 70’s by the time I finished. Their race hadn’t even started. I convinced all three to take water with them as there was only one water stop because of the terrain. They were sure glad they did by the time they finished. It was hot! I think it was close to 85 by the time Brent finished with the ladies coming in close to 20-30 minutes later. It reached close to 100 that day which is not typical for Montana in June.
Watching them come in from the sidelines was a little emotional for me. This was the first race that I have watched my friends and family partake in that I haven’t been there alongside them. I was excited for Krista and Katie as it was both their first time to run this race. I have been trying to get them to run it the past several years and of course they run when I can’t! Even though it was hard to stand on the sidelines, I was proud of all of them. Brent booked it like crazy trying to beat my previous times thinking I was much faster than I was. With that said, he totally schooled me and came in about 15 minutes faster than my best time. He was exhausted as you can tell from some of the pictures. It was a good day despite the heat. I hope I can get them all to run with me next year. Congrats to them!

Side note: I decided to take pictures of some random people like Brent usually does while he waits around for me. I love the looks on those peoples faces.
