NYC Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island

We woke up early on our last day in New York City. We made our way down to battery park where we would set off on a quick fairy ride over to the Statue of Liberty island and Ellis Island. I didn’t think that I would actually like seeing the Statue of Liberty so close, but I couldn’t help but really like it. It was neat to see this so close and to think about what this meant to people immigrating to the United States. This was the first thing that they saw when they entered the New York Harbor. It meant that they were finally about to reach land and make their way into the United States of America. We then hopped on over to Ellis Island. I was just in awe as I stood in the building while thinking about what it represented. So many people came through those looking for a better life. Some people were able to have a better life, some were not so lucky. We enjoyed reading the information about the immigrants and there ways of life. There were also several exhibits missing do to the destruction of the hurricane from a couple years ago. All in all, I think this is a must for those visiting New York City. I don’t think I’ll go back because there is so much more to see, but I am glad I made it part of my first New York City experience.
