Nepal Fundraising

Over the last month, I have been spending most of my time organizing fundraiser events for our upcoming mission trip to Nepal. I am in charge of all of the fundraising as well as a few other tasks for preparing for Nepal. I am excited as the time is closing in. We are about 1 1/2 months away from leaving. This also means we are getting closer and closer to the time that we need our funds. Actually, they need as much of them right now as we can get. Several of our friends and family have generously donated. They have been praying for our needs as well as for our time over in Nepal. We want to glorify God in this and do all we can to share Him with the Nepalese. Right now, Brent and I still need a couple thousand dollars, but we are getting funds each day. Praise God!

We have a pancake breakfast fundraiser this coming weekend. (Click Here for Details) We also have a Summit the “M” hike coming up on April 6th. With this event, we will be getting pledge amounts in several different ways. We will get a flat donation amount, a dollar amount for every time we make it to the top, or an every time we make it to the top, but with a cap. With this said, we will be hiking up and down for 5 hours straight. This will be a fun event since most of the team will be hiking while in Nepal bringing supplies and the gospel to remote villages. The only thing about this event for Brent and I is that we have already asked several of our friends come to other events or they have just given us a donation directly. How many more people can we ask? I don’t know who to begin asking. We will also be selling raffle tickets, but once again, how many times can I ask people to donate? Prayers for this area would be much appreciated!

We have many team meetings coming up and with those we are doing memory verses! What a great way to prepare our hearts!

Please continue to pray about our fundraising, preparing our hearts and for while we are over in Nepal. Below is our support letter for anyone who would like to donate to Brent or I. Thank you all again and please pray! It is what we need the most.

Nepal Support Letter

There are, throughout our lives, opportunities that come along. For all opportunities, a crossroads is made evident, a choice needs to be made. Now this choice is like the proverbial path, varying in it’s width in comparison to the other road. Some paths eventually meet back up, others change the destiny of the traveller forever. I find it no coincidence that the Bible often uses the term path to describe the road ahead. Jess and I find ourselves at one of those divergent points.

In May, we have the opportunity to travel to Nepal to perform various works to meet needs both physical and spiritual for 10 days. The trip consists of two parts of which Jess and I will each accomplish one. Jess will be in the capital city of Kathmandu, spending time with Orphan’s among multiple children’s homes. She will also be spending time with victim’s of human trafficking, helping to rehabilitate and restore their lives. I will be travelling, mostly on foot, on a 70+ mile journey through the Himalayas delivering the Gospel, recorded onto hand crank MP3 players in the local languages. We also will be delivering some basic supplies along the way.

Okay, so here’s where we really need your support. Prayer. That’s right prayer. We need the money too, don’t get me wrong, but it is imperative that we have your partnership in prayer. The things we would like you to consider praying for are: That our hearts would be prepared to love God, love people and serve others in extreme ways, that foundations and in-roads would be made before our trip to increase our impact while we are there, that we would be safe in all travels, that God uses us to impact the people of Nepal, that God is glorified in what we accomplish and that our testimonies about the trip impact lives here at home.

So here’s the scoop about the cost of this grand undertaking. It will cost approximately $3000 for each of us to go on this trip, so a grand total of $6000 for the two of us. Our group will be performing various fund raisers in the time leading up to the trip, so some of the cost will be provided there. Jess and I are also putting funds in of our own. We ask that you simply pray for us, and if you feel led, donate toward the trip. We thank you for your support in this and your partnership with us in this endeavor.

Please write your check to Venture Church and put Brent and Jess Powell in the memo line. Your donations are tax deductible, but only if you write the check to Venture.
