Lately, Brent and I have been addicted to the new Mat Kearney album titled “Young Love.” We had been playing it over and over using Spotify. We ran out to get a few things at Target last week, so I grabbed the CD while Brent was off looking at some technology thingy. We continued walking around the store for a little while. I somewhat hid it under the few other items I was carrying. My goal was not to completely hide it, but just to prolong him from seeing it. I put it on the checkout counter, the cashier scanned it, and Brent paid with out noticing anything. It went in the bag, he carried it out, and then did not see it till I had him empty the bag. I thought it was the funniest thing that he never noticed nor did he pay attention to how much the transaction ended up being. Oh Brent, I love you.
The entire album seems to be almost all about him and his wife Annie. Which is fun for a guy to be able to write and sing songs about his life and the things he loves. (Oh and Annie Powell, here is the kicker for you. Mat is from Oregon and now lives in Nashville. I, of course, thought of you instantly). It is a fun album. I hope you take the time to listen. Honestly, it is about all Brent and I are listening to right now. The title of the album is perfect for us because we are both still young and having fun being the couple we are without children, the responsibilities of owning a house, car payments and other things that may tie us down. We love where we are at in our lives together right now. Here is a taste of one of the music.
Young Dumb and in Love:
Uh oh… to be young and dumb and in love To be young and dumb and in love Baby, you got me ten feet off the ground I’m talking too much, and you don’t make a sound The pettiest face and those rock-a-bye baby browns All I’ve waited for’s come true To be young and dumb and in love With you, you, you, you
