In October, I was craving a family day at a local apple orchard. We ended up going to Kiyokawa Family Orchards. Being near Hood River Valley, there are so many orchards to choose from. Depending on what time of year, there is almost always something for you to go do at a local farm. Let’s just say, you won’t be bored. A lot of the farms allow you to wander around as well. There is a beauty about an orchard that I like. I can’t explain it, but it is probably because I’m from Montana and there aren’t too many around.
I think Brent and I had more fun than our little man. That really didn’t matter though, I just wanted to get fresh apples right off the tree. It was fun to be able to support the local farm and family as well. Elijah did love all the apples. He is an apple fan and we just kept picking and picking and picking more apples. This will be a definite family fall tradition for years to come.
I love that Brent and I are in the stage of coming up with family traditions. There are so many things to do out there and figuring out what things make up the Powells is exciting. With Elijah being so young, we have so much time to try things out and decide what we want to do as a family. We love anything that is outdoors, so what better than going to pick your apples or other fruits than going to a store.
Being able to create an event out of it, tops it all off as well. This time around, we had a lot going on that day, but we still wanted to make it happen. Needless to say, we didn’t have all the time in the world to spend wandering around, but we didn’t let that stop us. At least we still got out there. This is something I need to keep telling myself in other areas of my life. Also, in other outdoor activities that I want to do. It doesn’t need to be an all day event. Just get out there and go do it. You’ll/I’ll be happier for it.
Enjoy the apple picking pictures!
