As many of you have come to know, Jess and I are photographers and have lately been fairly busy taking photos for the side-business I started last year, thirtyfivemedia. So far, we’ve done family photos, company portraits, maternity shoots and weddings. The last one is the one that has consumed a fair bit of my time lately. We have shot two weddings of three booked for the summer, which may not sound like much, but added on top of full time jobs, serving with Venture, getting ready for our first-born (which includes as much camping unencumbered as possible) and just trying to spend time with our friends and family, it has made for a busy summer. Not that I would trade it, but it has made for a busy time in life.
It does make me wish for a simpler phase of life, but that is simply out of the question for this fall. While I have an idea of what being a parent will be like, I am sure that it will require much more of me than I expect. I know, that’s an open ended expression, but much like understanding God’s grace, raising a newborn will be an enumerable experience. To counter for this wonderful time in life (that necessitates a change in priorities), I am already preparing everyone else for a hiatus from the workload I have been operating with. Come October, my desire is to have as much time as possible for my burgeoning family.
Oh how grand this adventure of life can be! Who knows what the Powell’s have in store for them next, but one thing’s for sure, it will be exciting.
The lead image for this post was one that I happened upon one night heading home from a meeting. We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful place! I also used it to test out the new HDR function in Adobe Lightroom 6.
