Run to the Pub 2013

So Proud!Last weekend, I was able to run the half marathon at the annual Run to the Pub here in Bozeman. This year was special though. It was named the #2 half marathon in the United States by Runner’s World. This brought in a lot of out of towners. This is not the only reason it was special. I was able to run the race with my good friend Katie. It was her first time running a half and I was excited to run along side her. Brent ran as well, but he did not feel very good when he woke up that morning. He didn’t stick with us too long. He soon found himself falling behind.

My friend’s first goal was to finish and her second was to cross the line in at least 2 hours and 30 minutes. I told her that was impossible. I had been training with her a lot over the last several months and I knew she was better than that. I didn’t have my good old watch to keep track of our splits, but I knew we were running well.

I kept encouraging her and letting her know that we were doing great! I even got her to pick up the pace for the last couple miles. It wasn’t a huge increase, but it was just enough to get us to cross that line in under 2 hours! I was so proud of my friend!
