Huffing for Stuffing 2012 & Thanksgiving Festivites

Thanksgiving morning, Brent and I slept in till 7:30! Well not really. My usual cant sleep in self woke me up earlier and I just laid in bed for a while. I slowly got ready as I prepared for our 10k, Huffing for Stuffing. My parents were in town as they got ready for the 5k. Mom was going to run and dad was walking. We all gathered in the car and met my sister at the start. It had rained and slightly snowed the night before which made for some icy roads. It had been 50 degrees the previous days so 30 felt a bit cold until he sun came up. We had arrived at the start just minutes before the race started. We found some friends and got one of them to run with us. It was one of the guys that ran the Grand Teton Relay with us, Jeff. The four of us started off but we eventually lost my sister at some point. It was fun to run with other people for a change. I’ve done a lot of running by myself this year, so this was great!

We carefully made our way down the road trying not to slip and fall. We were actually running a little faster than Brent and I had planned on, but we had to keep up with Jeff. We made it back to the point where the 5k and 10k come back together. It was now extremely crowded, but we saw my mom right away. She was plugging along and having fun as we passed by her. Brent, Jeff and I made it across the line together. We had a blast running with him. We quickly found all of our church family serving the water at the finish (Thanks guys!) and hung out with them as we cheered everyone else across the line that we knew. It was great to see the excitement on everyone’s faces. Oh the joys of races!

We hung out for a bit longer and then headed to the tents to find something warm to drink. They also enter everyone into a raffle when you register. Turned out that I won a bag full of dog stuff! Too bad Brent and I do not have a dog. We passed it along to my brother. Ha! Not because he’s a dog (He is my brother and sometimes does act like one. Ha!), but he has our family dog and theirs as well.

We went home and cleaned ourselves up as Brent and I took turns making biscuits and gravy in between the cleaning up process. It was very tasty. I think we decided that my gravy is starting to turn out better than Brent’s! I have finally learned the ways! We played a few games after our late breakfast, sat around for a bit and then headed over to my brother’s.

We enjoyed the rest of the Thanksgiving festivities with lots of food, games and family time. Thanksgiving is always a great day until you start thinking about working on Black Friday. Yuck. Good thing I was able to hide away in the office! I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving as well.
