This past weekend, I had an extra day off work because of the holidays, so on Friday morning we woke up early and headed out to North Dakota. What is in North Dakota? My entire extended family. My sister tagged along and we set out for the 8 hour journey. We made it safe and sound on Friday afternoon. We picked up my most wonderful Grandma and headed out to grab some lunch. We spent 2 1/2 hours just sitting at the restaurant talking with her. It was the best as she is almost 92 years old and the main reason for our quick visit. We talked about things going on in our lives as well as getting updated on all the happenings of the family.
The best part of it all was when Grandma started talking about her past and the things she could remember during the years. The stories were from those years of the Great Depression, her childhood, and many other times. We were blessed to be able to have such a great conversation. She is a wonderful and bright women. I am very blessed to have her as my grandmother. The rest of Friday we went over to my uncle’s house and spent some time with him and his wife. My uncle is such a goof when we nieces come around. I love every minute of it. The rest of the weekend we spent off and on with Grandma, my aunts, and my uncle. Then Sunday we spent a little extra time with one of my aunts and my grandma. After a sad goodbye, as it is always hard to leave Grandma, we headed over to say goodbye to my uncle and then hit the road for a quick ride back home. It was a short weekend but a much needed one as we had not seen my Grandma since her 90th birthday.
