What is zopf you ask? That is what I thought when I Googled for a bread recipe for dinner with some friends. I wanted to find something new yet easy enough to try for the first time. I stumbled upon a recipe for this zopf bread which is a Swiss Sunday morning bread. It is bread that is traditionally braided which is why it is called zopf. Zopf means braid. Makes sense. Well the bread turned out beautifly on the first try. This does not always happen when I am baking a new bread recipe for the first time. The other nice thing was that the bread only took about an hour and a half including rising time. A winner in my book! Now to find out if it tastes good. I guess we leave that to our meal with our friends tonight. If nothing else, it turned out a beautiful looking masterpiece. It can’t taste bad right?
It has been great to try new recipes to find ones we like. We keep on trying and they keeping on coming. So far we have not had anything that has turned out too bad, or bad at all. Some recipes are just more work than others. I bet you can tell that from all the food blogging I have done lately. We will see how long these new creations keep going. They do come and go in spurts though, as I find myself busy with life. Running on my lunch hour sure has freed up some time to do other activities at night. As long as winter is here, so is the baking! Not that it will not happen in summer, but it is not as likely and we all know why.
Thanks to my amazing and most talented husband for the use of his photography!
