Where to start?

Now that we have been in The Dalles for a week and Brent is now onto his second week of work over in White Salmon, we are both trying to figure out where to start building community. This isn’t an easy question to answer as we have yet to figure out where we will be in the next several months. With little communities surrounding us, we have many options of where we could end up. Our first pick would be White Salmon as it would be nice for Brent to work in the same town as we live. The only problem with White Salmon is that it appears to be a harder place to find a house. The market is much like Bozeman with homes selling fast and sometimes there are few to choose from. There are other communities with more housing options.
With that said, where do we start getting plugged in? Do we start in White Salmon even if we end up living somewhere else? Do we just go around to the different communities and spend several weeks in each? We don’t want to be driving to churches outside of the community that we live in. We want to make an impact where we will live. Now we could just start getting plugged in and if we end up not living in that area, I guess we will just have to move on again. Is that so bad? Knowing that we could make connections and then leave them again. It probably isn’t so bad. on the plus side, we would probably be a half hour down the road if we wanted to connect again. That isn’t bad at all. Considering it took 20 minutes to drive across Bozeman. What’s the difference?
Still, these questions are at the forefront of my mind. Where do I start? We have lots of family around here, which was a main reason for moving. Family is great, but friends and your own community is needed apart from them. Where do I start to make some new friends? I know these questions will get answered in time. I am just trying to be patient with that. Most of you will know that I am not a very patient person. Throughout this entire moving process, God has been teaching me to be more patient. I can see now that He will continue to teach me on this side of the move as well.
