We’ve been here a week now, the U-Haul has been returned, the storage unit filled, bags unpacked and a few days of work under my belt. I’ve been getting used to the commute, but I think with views like this, I’ll come to enjoy this part of my day.
The first days of my new job were standard new hire fare. I filled out paperwork, met coworkers, toured the facility and read policy manuals. I’m looking forward to all the opportunities to use my knowledge in this arena. The one thing that I’m missing about my last few years of work is the ability to go home over lunch, so remembering to take a lunch with me is a challenge.
While we wait for our home to sell in Bozeman, we are hanging tight with Jess’s parents in The Dalles. We are grateful for their generosity during this time. Even though we won’t be actively seeking out a new home for a bit, we decided to get out this weekend and take a closer look at the towns within a 30 minute drive to work. We’ve done a fair amount of online research, but nothing beats visiting a place in reality. We made stops in both Stevenson and White Salmon. White Salmon is the town in which work resides, so it will probably be the town we try to find a place there first. Stevenson is about 20 miles to the west, but is a fun looking town that may have some good options for us.
We also drove into Vancouver to visit my sister at her shop, Most Everything, and were able to get in a few moments with her. On our way back, we stopped back in both towns, grabbing lunch in Stevenson and Coffee in White Salmon. We are looking forward to the adventure to come. Here’s a few more images we collected along the way.
