During the day, I sit at work staring at the computer just thinking about my up coming marathon and trip. (While I am working of course!) The excitement is building. I almost cannot contain it. I get to run the in worlds largest marathon in just over 3 weeks! I get to go to New York City and then to Scotland! Why do I get to do all of this? Normally there seems to be a bigger purpose or reason for my trips other than just fun. Even Brent’s and my last trip to Colorado we ended up visiting friends. Although, that was probably the most refreshing trip we have had yet.
This time, we get to go to New York City (ya I’m running a marathon, so what? That is just a fun event!) and hang out for a few days. I am starting to taper my training, the daylight is getting shorter and so are my runs. This morning, my sister and I ran under the “blood moon”. That was fun to watch! Soon the weather is going to turn cold for months. What am I going to do with all of my time when I am not training?
What to do there? That is the real question now. So many things to do, what will we choose? The musts are a Broadway (which we already have tickets to Wicked), Times Square, Central Park (where I finish my marathon), Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and then what? We will see I guess.
Then we hop the plane to Scotland! Scotland! The last several international trips we made were mission trips. Now, don’t get me wrong, those were awesome. We learned so much and were able to help so many people. Something that I would do again in a heart beat and hope to again soon. There is just something to be said about traveling without an agenda. Now we are making some specific plans, but not finalizing it all. It will be fun to have it open for changes. We are definitely going to hit up castles, Loch Ness (Yes, we are going to find Nessy!), coffee shops, cobble stone streets and the scenery. I just can’t wait!
What a trip this is going to be! And thanks for reading my ramblings again! I am just really excited right now. I can’t wait for vacation!
