Only two days away!

I am sitting on a bed at a hotel in Casper, Wyoming icing my ankle as I wait for Brent to finish working. Soon it is off to Denver! Why am I icing my ankle when the marathon is on Sunday? Well, last week I was helping set up for our church service as normal. I was all excited knowing that it was going to be an easy week of runs, the marathon was coming and a week vacation! We were also really short handed for our set up crew. I was helping move the heavy school cafeteria tables and decided to roll one right into the back on my ankle. I kept going thinking I was going to get over the pain. When it was still there 15 minutes later, I decided to take a moment to check out my foot. I pulled off my shoe to see blood on the heal of the shoe and then came the wound under the sock with even more blood and a huge bump. I cleaned it as best as I could and found the closest mom knowing there would be bandaids in her purse. I was able to score a couple of sweet Monster bandaids that her 2 year-old had picked out. I finished helping set up and got through the morning limping around the school gym.
When we made it home, I took the time to ice it and clean it properly. I have spent most of the week icing it and babying my ankle. I skipped my Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday runs. I was honestly a little afraid to try. Since Brent had to go into work this morning, I took it as an opportunity to try and run. I put on the moleskin and put on my shoe. My foot felt tight in there with that little bump that doesn’t seem to want to go away. Luckily, I am not in any pain. I ran for the 3 miles feeling my heal, but it didn’t seem to affect my stride! I was excited! When I finished, all I could think about was getting my shoe off! I have now iced it 2 times again this morning just hoping the swelling will continue to go down. All in all, I am just glad it is sore and not in pain. We will see if I can walk after the marathon. Pray that it goes well. With all of this said, I am not sure of how my run will go. I don’t know if I can reach my goals. My new goal is to finish! Please be praying for my ankle and that I will still have fun and enjoy myself even if it means that I need to take it slow. I will let you all know how I do hopefully on Sunday!
