Brent and I have ran the last two Oktoberfest races. The first one was a 10k plus which ended up being about 6.7 miles instead of 6.2. The second year, they got the race down to a 10k. Both of these years, they also had 5k distances. This year, they decided to make it just one race distance and made it an 8k. Brent and I were guaranteed a PR! We both went into work early on Friday, September 28th so that we could get off to run this evening race. We made it home and down to the start with several minutes to spare. It was a beautiful warm evening.
The last few years, we have known a ton of people that were at this race. This year, not so much. It was a fun almost date like race for the two of us. It extended Brent’s birthday festivities. We lined up at the start and took off to run this almost 5 mile race on the hills of Bozeman. A few nights before, I had not felt so great while running these hills. It was a weird feeling that I had never felt before. It was great to be feeling great on these hills. I felt like I dominated them! A great feeling before running in San Francisco. The race seemed not to last very long as we came rolling into the finish line.
We both PR’d! Not hard considering this was the first time we race at this distance. None the less though, it was a PR! But we don’t know what we got because they gaves us someone else’s bibs. We are waiting for the new results to be posted, but there is a chance that this might not happen. Instead of getting in line for our free beer that we earned, we headed over to the sponsoring bar and grabbed ourselves some ginger ales. Very tasty. It was a great way to start off our weekend.
