Everyone kept on telling us how we needed to hike up to Lava Lake in the Gallatin Canyon. I did it several years back with my family, but I don’t remember much of it. I had a migrane and didn’t really want to spend the time enjoying the hike. Brent and I finally went this past Sunday. It was a nice jaunt up the mountain to the lake that was formed from a landslide and not a glacier like most mountain lakes. It was a beautiful view. For those of you that have not explored other lakes around here such as Emerald/Heather Lakes, Pine Creek Lake or even Crescent Lake, Lava Lake is overrated. You must take the time to check out these other lakes. It is well worth the effort. Enjoy my photos!
