Patience

This week has been one that is teaching Brent and I to be patient. We are ready to go home, tired of eating out, tired of spending the money on eating out, tired of not having our bed and the just continues. We are ready to be done. Have I mentioned that we want to go home yet? With all of this said, we know that we need to go it on Elijah’s time. It is all up to him now. We want him to be ready and where he needs to be even if that means a few more days away from home. We are approaching the two week mark. I can’t believe he is almost two weeks old already. Wow time flies while sitting next to a bed in NICU.

Monday was a day of not much change. That made it hard for me. He was nursing, but barely taking anything. He just didn’t have the energy. His little body was still catching up on energy. He had been through so much in just over a week. I knew he needed to gain his energy back, but I just so badly want to see him take leaps and bounds when it comes to nursing. I know it’s on his, but it can’t come fast enough for this mamma. Monday ended with a few tears, but knowing that it was what the little man needed.

Tuesday he was starting to gain energy again. Every other nursing went well. This was a great improvement from Monday and it made me over joyed. Wednesday was another great day. He was consistantly nursing during each time and taking anywhere between a third to a half of what he needs to. We were so happy with how the day went.

Now the little man needs to keep making these improvements. The sooner the better, but he needs to do it on his time. No matter how much we want to come home. However, if we don’t get to go home by Monday, Brent needs to go back to work on Tuesday. Your prayers would really be appreciated for this to happen by then. Thanks to everyone for the continued prayers. We know that Elijah wouldn’t be improving the way he has without them. What a wonderful savior we have! Even though this is nothing we ever expected to happen, God’s hands are in control.
