Let’s talk about momentum

It’s all about getting started, all you need is a push.

The goal is to harness movement and let it carry you through the obstacles that life invariably provides. What is hard is when you’ve been sitting still for too long. Obstacles that used to seem like mole hills, now feel like mountains. Well… I’ve been sitting for a while. Especially when it comes to the things I’m passionate about. So what to do about it?

Jess and I have had a rough few weeks in a couple key areas. One is in the arena of the finances, with an emphasis of rising health insurance costs. We’ve been doing the whole single(ish) income thing for a couple years now and we wouldn’t trade it for anything. I realize that not everyone can make it work, or even wants it, but it works for us. It does come with its drawbacks, compounded by my employers lack of dependent health insurance options. I won’t get into crazy details, but we hit a moment of peak stress finding out that our insurance yet again failed us on top of other issues that led to some “loud” conversations, raw emotions and tender moments. It was but a moment, but it lead to a deeper conversation after our apologies were made, graces given and tender mercies accepted.

I’ve been a bit of a grump lately. I’m not fulfilling my inner calling to be more. I’ve settled for a low bar, but it’s that high bar that I need to strive for, long for and actually reach for. I think it is something often unrealized in goal settings. Yes, you need to set lofty goals for yourself, but I think what’s more important than achieving the goal is the actual “reach” for the goal. The reach stretches, grows and strengthens you. Even if you fail in attaining the goal, you’re stronger for it.

Back to momentum. So here I am, needing a push and a push I have received. I can’t go into all the details, but life is throwing a couple curves, ones that are pointing me to a path I’ve always know I would follow. If you’ve known me for any length of time, I’ve always had a side hustle going on. Of all the things I been blessed to be knowledgeable and talented at, media creation has always been at the top. I started Thirty Five Media a few years ago and have let it grow stagnant these last couple years in Oregon. It’s time to reignite the kiln and get the media foundries roaring. So here’s the goal: To make my side hustle, my main hustle and to use that to bless those around me.

So here’s to the proverbial ball, and may it start a-rollin’ and keep on rolling. And if you pass me by, help give me a push to keep me going, I need your support.
