A little hope…

It was take two for story time today over at the White Salmon library today. As I drove through the Gorge, I knew it was going to be a good day today. The sun was out which brought light to the mountain that we had only seen a glimpse of over 2 weeks ago. Mt. Hood was rising in the sky with its glorious snow packed peak. The rain was no where to be seen this week. This made for fewer people at story time. That was ok though. It wasn’t as crazy rambunctious as the prior week which meant it was easy to try and connect with someone.

I sat closer to the front in hopes that it would help Elijah be able to focus long enough to participate a little more. It worked. He mostly observed everyone else doing the hand motions and various other things, but he was taking it all in this time. Last time, he wanted to do his own thing. Elijah eventually found himself looking back and smiling at the same lady who’s boots he played with last week.

After story time was over, the toys were brought out and the kids started to play. A few ladies were talking near me and I waited for my turn to interject. I finally got the courage and was quickly in conversation with both of them. It was a good conversation that eventually lead to them talking about their church. When I asked what church they went to, they told me, but they also started telling me about other churches in the area. The whole conversation made me feel a little bit of connection starting to grow in White Salmon. I have a little bit of hope now that maybe this wont take months to get connected. I have a little more excitement about the days to come now and can’t wait to see what God has planned for us.
