Rooming In

Since my last post, Elijah has kept on improving with each day’s nursing. He kept growing stronger and stronger. We think that he finally decided that it would be nice to go home. I continued to be a little emotional. I would have my ups and downs. It was usually either I want to go home or was over joyed with his progress. I think the next 24 hours will continue to be emotional as we near the end of our time here at St. Vincent’s.

As much as he loves all his girlfriends here and as much as they all love him, it’s time to go home. All the nurses love our little man. We even over heard some of them trying to get him during their shifts. Sometimes they won sometimes another nurse won. It’s fun to see our little man so lived here. The nurses have been amazing and are sincerely excited about his improvements and the fact that he is so close to going home. Our night nurse even gave me a hug goodbye this morning.

With these improvements came the opportunity for us to finally leave the Ronald McDonald house last night and come over to a room at the hospital. It was nice to be just down the hall again. The even more exciting thing is that we have him to ourselves for the day and evening! He is rooming in with us right now. It is so nice to be out of the NICU. Keep praying for continued strength in nursing. We can’t wait to go home.
