NYC Day 1 – Travel

This year has expanded my borders. A couple of months ago, I visited the eastern seaboard of the U.S. for the first time on a work trip and last month, we ventured out on a multi-city/country excursion to New York City and then to Scotland. We were in NYC for the NYC Marathon and decided, we are already over here, why not head to Europe!

We left the morning of Halloween on a 2-part flight to NYC via Denver. Flying from Denver to NYC, I decided to test out the in-flight WiFi for a work conference meeting. It mostly worked, but hey, I got paid for an hour of my flight! We arrived in the afternoon at Newark, NJ and quickly made our way to the rail stop to make our way to Penn Station in NYC. This was my first time on a non-lightrail train, a pain-free experience. We had an AirBNB reservation in NYC, but before heading there, we walked over to the race expo to pick up Jess’s race packet and peruse the vendor area, snapping a few photos along the way.

We headed down to our apartment for the weekend, taking the subway. Our little apartment was in China town, a cozy base-camp for our little 4-day adventure. After unpacking, we set off for dinner and then, after a short walk, back to the apartment to turn in for the night.
