Running Injuries

Well, it is probably about time with running in for 4 years that I get some type of an injury. It finally hit me this weekend. I went on a run Friday night and by the time I finished my right foot was stiff and sore. I wasn’t able to walk on it very well for the rest of the evening.. The crazy thing is that it felt fine while I was actually running. I have an awesome husband and he spend some time rubbing my foot. It slowly got better and I went to bed.

I woke up on Saturday morning and my foot felt almost great. I decided that it was good enough to run on because it felt fine while I was running the day before. Well we went out to our favorite trail run in town and headed out. It was a beautiful morning. We were running a long and my foot was starting to get slowly sore. Not even a mile into the run and I got a really sharp pain in the ball of my foot. I couldn’t push off running with my toes any more.

I am not going to lie. I stopped on the trail and started crying. I have a relay in two weeks! I contacted my friend that could help me. We figured out that it is tendinitis. I have spent the last couple days taking ibuprofen and rolling it over a frozen water bottled. I plan on doing this for the two weeks and then attempting to run at the relay for the first time. Meanwhile, I am biking and taking it easy walking on the foot.

What a weekend it was. I also have a few half marathons planned in September. Pray that my foot heals and that I can just not be too disappointed by my situation.
